Studying the history of Bulova is studying the history of many firsts in the watch industry.

Joseph Bulova opened a jewelry store in 1875. In 1911 he began manufacturing clocks and pocket watches. In World War I members of the military were issued wrist watches. When they began returned home, a new trend started.

With a mastery of jewelry design and good production facilities, Bulova was poised to take advantage of this trend. He was the first to introduce a line of men's jeweled wristwatches. This was quickly followed by the first full line of women's wristwatches and the first line of diamond watches.

Bulova continued to be the first in the field. In 1928, Bulova was responsible for the first clock radio. The first million-dollar advertising campaign was conducted by Bulova in 1931. In 1941 Bulova aired the first television commercial.

In addition to a history of firsts, Bulova proved it had a heart. At the end of World War II, the Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking opened it's doors to disabled veterans. The mission was to help disabled veterans remain independent. They were not required to pay for their schooling here. A foundation took care of the costs.

In the 1950s Bulova developed the first electronic watch. It kept time to within two seconds a day.

Bulova has become a symbol of class and quality. It is the brand often given to visiting dignitaries. It has been the official watch to the United States Olympic Team. It has even had a place as the official timekeeper on Air Force One.

If you are looking for a watch company with a rich history of firsts, a reputation for quality, and a history of giving back to veterans, look no further. You've found it in Bulova.
