Ebay is one of the hot auction web sites on the world wide web. I doubt there is a person on earth who has not heard of eBay. Thousands of people each day make money on eBay or other hot auction web sites. It is incredible but many people have retired from their traditional jobs and now are making a full time income simply off auctions. However, you have to work hard to succeed and make the kind of profit you can be proud of on hot auction web sites like eBay. Your business venture can easily end in failure and most people do not even know why. Below are some reasons why people fail on hot auction web sites and eBay. By understanding other people's failure you can avoid them and hopefully succeed by making a profit from auction web sites.
Pricing! Pricing can always be a big issue. There is one of the major reasons people do not make money on eBay. Often people want to start their items off at a price that is just too high. It is important to under price your item. This will draw in more bidders and it is through bidding that you get your intended price and some times well above what you are hoping for. Hot auction web sites work on the idea that bidders bid against each other which raises the prices. This is how you make a profit. So you want to make sure you start your item pricing low. Remember if the price is to you high no one bid on your item and you will out the money. The same is true for shipping pricing. Make sure you keep your shipping and handling prices low, people are turned off by outrageous shipping prices. Pictures! You must have pictures of the item you are trying to sell. You should at least have one picture but the more the better. Bidders like to see your items up close before they buy. Make sure the picture is clear and your item can be seen from a good angle. Auctions will not sell without photographs do not even try. Reserve it! Ultimately there is no reason to have a reserve price on anything on hot auction web sites unless it is a priceless antique. No one wants to mess around with a reserve price. It is a waste of bidders time they would rather go and find the either someplace else. List it! Make sure your listing is well written and without grammar errors. Make the wording clear, concise, and even a bit witty. People appreciate humor and will remember that you do not take yourself so seriously. Make sure the titles of your auctions are words people search for and immediately explain what the item you are selling is.
