Wholesale Croton Watches

  October 19, 2006

It is no secret that turning a profit on eBay is becoming more and more difficult. Competition is fierce, fees are high and it seems there are just too many sellers selling at prices that are just too low for business merchants to compete.

While the above is partly true there is much more to the issue. There is a lot of competition on eBay and yes, the fees are high but competition is a constant in the world of business and considering the cost of promoting your own web site and driving targeted traffic to it can cost much more than the listing fees for eBay auctions. In fact, competition is often a sign that there is money to be made. Considering the amount of traffic browsing eBay at any given moment the cost of listing auctions is really not that unreasonable.

It is not necessary and in fact, it is quite deadly to try and compete on price with many of the ridicules auction selling products for pennies on the dollar. You can be sure of this that these sellers are not making money. They have other motivations, such as list building, but they are not making money from the direct sales of these products. With that being said, you can compete with these without contributing to the devaluation of products with insanely low prices by providing customer with the perception of value. Many customers are willing and ready to pay a reasonable price for product when they are assured that they are doing business with a trusted source.

The following are some tips for gaining your customer's confidence and creating the perception that your products are worth the higher price.

Tip 1

Provide a reasonable list of your expectations and return policies and do not threaten bad feedback for seller who do not pay within a certain period of time. This kind of stuff can send buyers running.

Tip 2

Provide contact information. Consider providing a toll free telephone number for customers to call with questions. This will go along way in creating credibility and you will find what most do not call.

Tip 3

Charge reasonable shipping fees. Nothing turns off potential bidders more than super high shipping and handling charges.

You can succeed on eBay while making decent profits by treating your eBay business like a business and the customer like you appreciate them.
