It is often considered to be the catch-22 of online auction selling--in order to make sales you must have a high feedback rating but in order to get a feedback rating you must get sales. It is the same experience that many college graduates have when they first enter the job market--in order to get a job you must have experience but the only way to get experience is to have a job. In both cases, it is necessary to make some sacrifices in order to get started. The job seeker may have to take low or unpaid work, and the seller may have to sell some products for low profit or no profit at all in order to build the kind of reputation that a successful seller must have.
As stated, in order to get sales you must have good feedback. To generate those first crucial feedback points, the perspective seller must put him or herself in the buyer's shoes. They must consider what could possibly entice a buyer to make a purchase from them without the assurance that a high feedback rating supplies. Of course, the answer is that the deal must be much sweeter than the deals offered by competitors with high feedback. Once the new seller has landed a sale, he or she must be diligent to ship the product quickly and make sure that the product is exactly as described. All questions and concerns should be handled promptly. While a power seller might be able to absorb a bad feedback now and then, even one is enough to totally cripple the new seller.
