Going to work, on a date, playing sports or hiking in the woods may each require a different style of watch if you plan to have it fit your attire and activity. Although most people will only own two watches, one for work and one for play, others may own three or four to help their watch fit it with what they are doing.
A waterproof watch with a black leather band is an excellent choice for wandering through the woods on a hike, but it will not go with your business suit. It may also go with your bowling shirt or the sweatshirt of your favorite team while watching the game, but it will seem out of place if you take your date to an upscale restaurant. Your basic watch, gold plated with a gold band that tells the time and maybe the date is great for wearing to work or in social settings. In more formal settings you may want a little better value in your watch, depending on your lifestyle as well as your budget. The two basic watches every person may want is one that you can feel comfortable wearing to work or to a wedding and another one that may have time and temperature features as well as night-lights and a waterproof plastic band. Your watch should also match any other jewelry items you may choose to wear. For example, if you watch is gold, your rings should be gold and cuff links, if worn, should also be gold in color.
