There are many style of watches at numerous price points, but one way to run up the tab is with some useful, and perhaps not so useful, features with which some watches are equipped. One of the more common watch features is the day and date feature. Others may also include a monthly calendar so your watch can advise you of the day, date and show the month.
If you participate in a lot of races or just want to time them yourself, you may want a watch equipped with a chronograph, which can be used as a stopwatch. Some are even available with two segments to measure the time of two events at the same time. As long as you are getting a watch to time speed, check one out with a tachymeter. That’s that ring around the face of the watch with all the numbers on it. When used with a chronograph, it aids in measuring average speeds by using the known pre-measured distance and the time. Water resistant and waterproof mean two very different things. Many watches will indicate, usually on the case or the back, that it is water resistant to a certain depth. A watch that is resistant for 30 meters means they are OK to wear when you think you might get splashed or rained on. A watch rated for 50 meters indicates you can wear it in the shower and a watch that is water resistant up to 100 meters can be worn while swimming. A resistance of 200 meters is needed if you plan on doing any scuba diving with your watch on. One of the newer bells is a telemeter which measures how far from an object the wearer is located. The watch sends out a signal accompanied by a loud noise while measuring. For closeout watches up to 90% off retail visit Watchcloseouts.net
